Box ScoreSOMERS, Wis. (Oct. 31, 2015)-- Three seniors were honored in a pre-match ceremony for Senior Day before the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team fell to #8 Rockhurst University 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-20) at DeSimone Gymnasium in a Great Lakes Valley Conference showdown.
The Rangers (17-8, 8-5 GLVC) came out swinging, led by the arm of
Lexi Turek, controlling the first set with an early 11-6 lead. Turek had 3 kills during the opening stretch. The nationally ranked Hawks (25-2, 13-0 GLVC) came back to tie the set 13-13 after a 7-2 run. During the run, Rockhurst senior Preecy Seever logged four of her match high seven blocks. The set was again tied at 22-22, but the Hawks closed the set 25-22 with three kills, two of which were from Seever.
Parkside started the second set off with a 3-0 lead, but Rockhurst battled back, and controlled the rest of the set going on to win 25-18. The Hawks returned from the intermission with an 8-2 run to start the third set. The Rangers bounced back later in the set with a 6-1 run including three kills from
Jackie Langer. Parkside was close at the end trailing 22-19, prompting a Rockhurst timeout. The Hawks finished out the set 25-20, winning their fifth straight match.
Lexi Turek had a match high 16 kills for the afternoon.
Lauren Hickson also led the match with 37 assists. Defensively,
Meghan Conley led the Rangers with 21 digs,
Jackie Langer had 17 digs, and
Rebecca Roembke added 14 digs of her own.

Jeni Heller, and
Jessi Mainczyk were joined by their families in a pre-match ceremony for Senior Day. Conley sits seventh on the career digs list with 1,038 and plans to graduate in May with a degree in biological sciences. Sports Management major,
Jeni Heller is tenth all-time in program history in blocks with 177 and plans to graduate in December. Defensive Specialist,
Jessi Mainczyk ranks ninth all-time in career service aces with 72, and intends to graduate in December with a degree in Sports Management.
The Rangers finish their GLVC schedule with five matches on the road, and return to action on Friday, November 6 against Truman State University at 7pm.
