Box ScoreSOMERS, Wis. (Oct. 3, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team swept Saint Joseph's College 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-21) and picked up their second Great Lakes Valley Conference win of the weekend at DeSimone Gymnasium.
In the first set, UW-Parkside (10-5, 4-2 GLVC) took an early lead, but Saint Joseph's (4-9, 0-6 GLVC) rebounded with a six point streak mid-set. The Rangers fought back to regain the lead, and in the process converted three service aces. The Pumas rallied late, but Parkside finished with the 25-23 win.
Rebecca Roembke opened the second set with one of her team leading six aces on the day. With the Rangers trailing early in the set, Roembke went on a seven serve run, including two more aces. The Green and White found themselves back in the lead and they never looked back, taking set number two, 25-19.
Saint Joseph's started out the third set with a fast 3-0 lead, but Parkside battle back to take control of the set. During the set,
Lexi Turek assisted on her team leading seventh block of the match. The Rangers proved too strong for the Pumas, closing out the match 25-21 in the final set.
Lauren Hickson served up a team leading 38 sets during the match. For the second time in two days,
Jackie Langer collected a double-double, this time with 13 kills and 12 digs.
Jessi Mainczyk also had 12 digs, and
Meghan Conley contributed defensively with 11 digs of her own.
The Rangers will be back in action at home on Tuesday against GLVC foe Lewis University, for a weeknight matchup at 7pm.
