Rangers Rally Past Greyhounds, 3-1

SOMERS, Wis. (Oct. 2, 2015)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team won the final two sets of the of the match to beat University of Indianapolis 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 28-26, 25-18) inside DeSimone Gymnasium for a Great Lakes Valley Conference win.
 
The Rangers (9-5, 3-2 GLVC) led by as many as eight points in the opening set, and completed the wire-to-wire 25-22 win.  In the second set, the Greyhounds (4-10, 2-3 GLVC) stole a victory away from Parkside with a hotly contested point late in the match that took away the Ranger momentum.  Indianapolis won the set 25-23.
 
The fans inside DeSimone Gymnasium came to life during the third set which saw the score tied 16-16, and again eight more times before it was over.  The set ended 28-26 with a block from Lexi Turek and Lauren Hickson for the win.  The final set saw two more late blocks by the Green and White.  UIndy took a timeout trailing 18-22 in the fourth set, but the Rangers held strong by taking the next two points via the block.  The final point of the match came from a kill by Elizabeth Mavis who also assisted in both of the aforementioned blocks.
 
Parkside finished with four players tallying double digit kills, including a team high 23 by Jackie Langer.  Senior Libero, Meghan Conley, led the team with 21 digs.  Lauren Hickson finished the match with a season high 64 assists, and Rebecca Roembke collected her fifth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 14 digs.
 
The Rangers continue their homestand on Saturday with an afternoon match against GLVC rival St. Joseph's at 3pm.
