LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Jan. 24, 2015)-- The 19th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's basketball team fell behind early and was never able to recover, dropping its first game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference slate with a 75-52 setback to seventh-ranked Bellarmine University inside Knights Hall on Saturday, snapping the Rangers' 12-game win streak.

Jordan Mach drained a trey 55 seconds into the game, giving the Rangers (16-2, 8-1 GLVC) a 3-2 advantage in what proved to be their lone lead of the contest. Bellarmine (16-2, 8-1 GLVC) answered with eight straight, staking an 11-3 edge before building a 22-9 edge with 10:34 left in the first half. The Knights led by double digits the rest of the way, taking a 42-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Mach and Zygimantas Riauka led the Ranger scoring attack, each netting 12 points. Mach canned four treys on the afternoon while Riauka was five-for-six from the field with six boards. Andy Mazurczak was the third Ranger in double figures, collecting 10 points.

Josh Derksen paced Bellarmine with 22 points while Josh Sewell had 11 off the bench. Jake Thelen netted 10 points and nine rebounds while Chris Whitehead added 10 points.

The Rangers struggled from the floor, shooting just 32.7 percent (16-for-49) for the game, including just 24.1 percent (seven-for-29) in the second half while committing an uncharacteristic 17 turnovers. BU tallied 21 points off turnovers and shot 58.5 percent (31-for-53), including 58.3 percent (seven-for-12) from distance. The Knights owned a 37-21 rebounding edge and owned a 38-8 edge in points in the paint.

The loss was Parkside's first setback since falling 80-79 to Walsh University on Nov. 29, snapping a 12-game win streak.

UW-Parkside returns to DeSimone Gymnasium on Thursday night, hosting top-ranked and undefeated University of Indianapolis at 7:30 p.m.
