SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Sept. 26, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball squad encountered little resistance on Friday night, rolling host University of Illinois Springfield 3-0 (27-25, 25-18, 25-19) in a Great Lakes Valley Conference East Division showdown inside the UIS Recreation & Athletic Center.

The opening set was a tightly contested affair with neither team owning a lead greater than three points. A Lisa Gregerson kill and a Prairie Star (3-6, 1-4 GLVC) attack error gave the visiting Rangers (6-4, 3-2 GLVC) the 27-25 victory in the first set.

UW-Parkside never trailed in the second set, cruising to the 25-18 win before finishing off Illinois Springfield with a 25-19 win in the third set. The Rangers led wire-to-wire in the final set, scoring four of the first five points. UIS closed the gap to just one at 16-15 but the Rangers tallied nine of the final 12 points to put away the match.

Jackie Langer led the Rangers with 11 kills while Jeni Heller and Meghan Conley each added nine. Meghan Pekarek had 39 assists and 10 digs while Jessi Mainczyk tallied 16 digs.

The Rangers return to the court tomorrow afternoon, facing McKendree University at 3 p.m.
