(Nov. 1, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team won the first two sets of the match, but was unable to close out Missouri University S&T and lost 3-2 (19-25, 22-25, 26-24, 25-15, 15-9) at home in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at the DeSimone Gymnasium.

The Rangers (14-11, 7-8 GLVC) won the first set in decisive fashion, by leading the match wire-to-wire finishing 25-19 on a final kill from
Lauren Hickson. Parkside had to play catch up in the second set, where the Miners (15-11, 10-5 GLVC) lead most of the match, but the Rangers were able to pull away with the 25-22 win after a late serving run from
Victoria Walsh.

In the third set, Parkside started strong and came out to a 17-12 lead, but Missouri S&T slowly came back and tied the game 24-24 and forced a Ranger timeout. The Miners won two fast points to close out the set 26-24. Parkside started the fourth set strong as well, and led 9-6. Missouri S&T started a strong comeback and shutdown the Rangers by winning 25-15. The Miners held on to that momentum and never trailed in the fifth and final set winning 15-9.Â

Jackie Langer and
Rebecca Roembke both had double-doubles with each scoring 16 kills along with 14 and 18 digs respectively.Â
Megan Pekarek led the Rangers with 53 assists.Â
Lexi Turek also had 10 kills on the evening.

The Rangers are back in action again at home on Sunday with a 1pm match against GLVC opponents Drury University.
