(Oct. 25, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball squad was unable to keep pace with Rockhurst University on Saturday evening, suffering a 3-1 (25-14, 24-26, 25-19, 25-15) setback in a Great Lakes Valley Conference clash inside Mason-Halpin Field House.
The visiting Rangers owned an early 4-2 lead in the opening set but the Hawks tallied the next four points. Rockhurst never trailed the rest of the way, capturing the 25-14 victory.
Parkside again claimed in early advantage in set two before eventually finding themselves in a 23-20 hole. The Rangers called a timeout and closed the set on a 6-1 run to snag the 26-24 set win to level the match.
UW-Parkside netted the third set's opening point but it was all Rockhurst the rest of the way, securing the 25-19 set win before leading wire-to-wire in a 25-15 set four win to wrap up the match.
Jackie Langer finished with 15 kills to lead the Rangers with
Rebecca Roembke and
Lisa Gregerson adding 13 and nine, respectively.
Megan Pekarek finished with 43 of the Rangers' 49 assists while defensively
Meghan Conley racked up 28 digs.
UW-Parkside returns to the court on Sunday at 1 p.m., traveling to Liberty, Missouri to face William Jewell College to finish off the road trip.
