(Oct. 19, 2014)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team was unable to match the firepower of 10th-ranked Quincy University on Sunday afternoon, falling 4-1 in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Wood Road Field.
The Hawks' (14-0-1, 11-0-1 GLVC) Xhovani Dokaj provided the game's opening goal, scoring in the 13th minute. The Rangers (8-7, 5-7 GLVC) got instant offense from
Jesus Oseguera with the senior scoring just 20 seconds after checking into the game in the 28th minute to level the score at 1-1. It was Oseguera's first goal of the year while
Nemanja Medic set up the play, recording his fourth assist of the season.
Quincy tallied the go-ahead score in the 37th minute off the boot of Jordan Roberts. QU enjoyed a 2-1 lead at the break, outshooting the hosts by a slim 7-5 margin. QU's Scott Ladi added a goal in the 59th minute off a corner kick while Roberts struck again in the 85th minute, capitalizing on a loose ball after a collision with the Rangers' keeper.
The nationally-ranked Hawks finished with a 26-13 advantage in shots, ripping off 19 in the second stanza while holding a 13-4 edge in shots on goal.
Marcos Perez collected eight saves in 84 minutes of action while
Szymon Owczarek was pressed into duty for the final six minutes, logging one save. Quincy's Drew Duncan claimed the win, allowing one goal and notching three saves.
The Rangers close their homestand on Friday, hosting the University of Indianapolis at 1:15 p.m.
