SOMERS, Wis. (Nov. 30, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball team continues its homestand on Sunday, welcoming its second straight Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent to DeSimone Gymnasium as the Rangers clash against in-state rival Cardinal Stritch University.

The Rangers and Wolves tipoff at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Live stats, video, and audio will be available for the game with Steve Kratochvil providing the play-by-play and Jim Kramer providing color commentary.

Series History: The Rangers and Wolves have met five times with UW-Parkside owning a 3-2 edge in the series. The Rangers have won the last two meetings, downing Stritch 57-41 inside DeSimone Gymnasium on Dec. 6, 2011.

About the Rangers: UW-Parkside (3-2) looks to remain unbeaten at home this season after posting an 81-32 whitewash of Trinity International University on Nov. 22.

UW-Parkside led wire-to-wire against the Trojans, forcing 24 turnovers while scorching the nets in the opening half of play. The Rangers led 48-21 at the break after shooting a red-hot 73.1 percent (19-for-26) from the field while sinking 55.6 percent (five-for-nine) of shots from beyond the arc.

The Rangers continued to pull away in the second half, holding Trinity scoreless the first 10 minutes of the half and limited the visitors to just 11 second half points in the 49-point rout. The win was the Rangers' largest margin of victory since blowing out Finlandia University 100-28 last season on Dec. 4.

Maddie Johnston led all scorers with 15 points while Danielle Slivka added 14 points and five assists. Rani Singh had a career-day, scoring 11 points off the bench.

Gaby Bronson leads the Rangers in scoring and rebounding through five games, averaging 13.0 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game. Slivka adds 11.4 ppg and 5,0 rpg while Tara Knapstein and Maddie Johnston both average 9.8 ppg.

About the Wolves: Cardinal Stritch (5-1, 2-0 CCAC) heads into Sunday's showdown riding a three-game win streak. The Wolves opened CCAC play on Nov. 20, downing Saint Xavier University 71-61 before crushing Trinity International 76-52 on Nov. 26 to jump to 2-0 in conference action. In between wins Stritch posted a 79-72 victory over Mount Mercy College on Nov. 23.

Julie Raeder leads the Wolves, averaging 16.8 points per game while grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game. Michelle Piepenburg adds 14.5 ppg and a team-best 9.0 rpg while Emily Neitzel contributes 9.2 ppg.

On Wisconsin: The Rangers have played only seven in-state opponents since the 2002-2003 season and own a 5-2 record in those games. Three of the wins have come at the expense of Stritch while also notching wins against Alverno College and Mount Mary College. The two defeats have come against Cardinal Stritch during the 2007-2008 season and against Division I University of Wisconsin-Green Bay during the 2004-2005 season.

Preseason Prognostications: UW-Parkside is picked to finish fourth in the GLVC East in 2013-2014 according to the league's 16 head coaches. The Rangers accumulated 78 points and one first place nod to secure fourth. Defending Champion Lewis University was picked to win the division with 113 points and 11 first place votes. University of Indianapolis was picked second followed by the University of Southern Indiana. Bellarmine University was picked to place fifth followed by McKendree University, Saint Joseph's College and the University of Illinois Springfield. Out West, Quincy University was selected to win the division with Maryville University, Missouri University S&T and Truman State University rounding out the top four.

Home Sweet Home: The Rangers have been nearly unbeatable at home in recent years, winning 62 of their last 67 games inside DeSimone Gymnasium. UW-P compiled an 11-3 record at home during 2012-2013 campaign, marking the first time since the 2007-2008 season the Rangers have dropped more than two contests at home. UW-Parkside was 12-4 at home in 2007-08, 10-2 in 2008-09 while finishing 15-1 in 2009-10, 15-0 in 2010-11 and 14-1 in 2011-12.

The Yorg File: Head Coach Jacob Yorg became the program's sixth coach over the summer, replacing the program's winningest coach in Jenny Knight-Kenesie. Yorg is no stranger to the GLVC having served as the associate head coach at Maryville University from 2008-2013. Maryville posted a 76-64 record in that span, winning the GLVC West Division crown last season in the Saints' fourth year as a Division II program.

Also joining the program is top assistant Jordan Wilde. Wilde previously served in a similar capacity at NAIA Ashford University in Iowa. Former UW-Parkside standouts Brittany Beyer and Jadee Rooney will both patrol the bench as well. Beyer served as a student assistant last season after concluding her career in 2012 while Rooney joins the Ranger staff after spending the summer dominating the Big V League in Australia as a member of the Ringwood Hawks.
