SAINT PAUL, Minn. (Nov. 16, 2013)-- The University of Wisconsin-Parkside women's basketball squad was unable to keep pace with ninth-ranked Concordia University, stumbling 73-53 on Saturday evening at the Radisson Hotel Roseville Classic inside the Gangelhoff Center.
Gaby Bronson highlighted the afternoon for the Rangers (2-2), almost posting a triple-double after leading the team with 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. The junior was named to the All-Tournament Team for her efforts.
The Golden Bears (3-2) tallied the opening five points of the game but the Rangers quickly answered, mounting a 12-2 run to take a five-point lead with 14 minutes remaining in the first half.
Maddie Johnston sparked the run with a three-pointer before draining another trey with 15:37 left to give UW-Parkside its first lead of the game.
UW-P extended its advantage to six points at 13:07 and again at 12:36 before Concordia launched a 20-2 assault to grab the lead for good, owning a 31-19 advantage with 2:59 left before enjoying a 35-25 buffer at the half.
Concordia led by double-digits the entire second half en route to the 20-point win.
Johnston and
Kristin Conniff each added nine points while
Danielle Slivka chipped in eight points.
Four Golden Bears finished in double figures with Carissa Wolyniec leading the way with a game-high 19 points. Anika Whiting had 15 points while Rachel Hansen and Jodi Batzel chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively.
UW-Parkside owned a 41-39 edge on the glass but committed 20 turnovers, resulting in 26 points for the Golden Bears.
The Rangers return to the court on Friday night, hosting Trinity International University with tipoff slated for 5:30 p.m.
