SOMERS, Wis. (Sept. 28, 2012)-- Falling on the wrong end of a pair of tightly contested sets, the University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball squad suffered a 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-10) setback to Bellarmine University on Friday evening in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at DeSimone Gymnasium.
The loss snaps UW-Parkside's (10-5, 2-4) two-game win streak. The Rangers downed Kentucky Wesleyan University 3-0 on Sept. 22 while posting a nail-biting 3-2 victory over Upper Iowa University on Wednesday.
The visiting Knights (7-3, 4-2 GLVC) grabbed the opening set 25-22 before posting a razor-thin 25-23 win in the second set. Bellarmine continued its momentum in the third set, posting a 25-10 victory to secure the three-set match victory.
Kendyl Danelski and
Ryann Arundel both posted a team-high eight kills for the Rangers while
Heidi Gregerson added six.
Chelsea Neave posted 17 assists while
Sarah Mlachnik and
Tricia Tirabassi had 13 and nine digs, respectively.
Krista Gibson led BU with 11 kills while Bailey BredenbeckCorp had 29 assists and four service aces. Jaclyn Ohlmann posted a game-high 16 digs with Paula Byrns adding 14.
The Rangers return to the court tomorrow afternoon, closing out the homestand against McKendree University with first serve slated for 3 p.m.
