Men's Soccer Surges Past KWC, 6-1

OWENSBORO, Ky. (Sept. 23, 2012)-- Five goals in the final 45 minutes of play lifted the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team to the 6-1 victory over host Kentucky Wesleyan College on Sunday afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match at Panther Field.

The visiting Rangers (3-4-1, 2-4 GLVC) opened the scoring in the 14th minute with Austin Robb beating the Panther keeper for an unassisted goal. Kentucky Wesleyan (0-8, 0-6 GLVC) answered in the 33rd minute with Christaki Agisilaou equalizing the score off a feed from William Head as the two squads went into the break deadlocked at 1-1.

Marc Glidden put UW-Parkside in front for good in the 68th minute off an assist from Robb while Collin Monahan, Jesus Oseguera and Ryan Crane all found the back of the net in a three minute span. Monahan opened the scoring spurt with a goal in the 74th minute before Oseguera scored just 79 seconds later off an assist from Jorge Ontiveros. Crane tallied the Rangers' third goal in as many minutes, finding the back of the net in the 77th minute. Elliott Schultz concluded the second half scoring binge with a goal in the 81st minute off a Monahan assist.

Ranger goalkeeper Nick Huftalin tallied seven saves in 76 minutes of work while Marcos Perez tended the net for the final 14 minutes of play. KWC's Bill Ison had a busy day between the posts, logging 14 saves and yielding six goals.

UW-Parkside ripped off a season high 34 shots on the afternoon while KWC managed 16 shots on the day.

The Rangers return to the friendly confines of Wood Road Field on Friday, Sept. 28, hosting Bellarmine University at 1:15 p.m.
