SOMERS, Wis. (Aug. 31, 2012)-- Jorge Ontiveros was a one-man wrecking crew on Friday afternoon at Wood Road Field, netting a hat-trick to propel the University of Wisconsin-Parkside men's soccer team to a 3-0 non-conference victory over visiting Madonna University (Mich.).

UW-Parkside (1-0-1) roared out to the early lead with a pair of goals off the boot of Ontiveros in the opening half. The forward opened the scoring in the 23rd minute off a feed from Jon Gourlay before doubling the Ranger advantage with a goal in the 43rd minute. A free kick by Luke Klees after a yellow card set up Ontiveros who beat the Crusader goalkeeper for the 2-0 buffer, a lead the Rangers took into the halftime break. The redshirt sophomore completed the hat-trick in the 80th minute, beating the defense and the keeper to conclude the scoring.

For the second straight game the Rangers defense held strong, logging another shutout as goalkeeper Nick Huftalin recorded four saves on the afternoon. Madonna's (0-2) Adrian Motta suffered the defeat, yielding three scores and making six saves in 90 minutes of work.

UW-Parkside returns to the pitch on Friday, September 7, opening up Great Lakes Valley Conference play against Missouri S&T University. Kickoff at Wood Road Field is slated for 1:15 p.m.
