The Rangers and Panthers have split two meetings earlier this season with both winning on the other team's home floor. KWC scored a 68-67 win at the DeSimone Gymnasium on December 1. Bianca Barton hit a slashing lay-up with 0.1 seconds left to take the victory.
Parkside returned the favor in Owensboro, Ky., on February 11 with an 83-69 win.
Jadee Rooney had a season-high 29 points while
Brittany Beyer scored 20.
Jenna Endisch also had 17 off the bench. Lauren Goffinet led the Panthers with 17 as well.
Newly crowned GLVC Coach of the Year Jenny Knight-Kenesie is looking to take the Rangers back to the GLVC Tournament Semifinals for the third straight season. The last time the tournament was held in Springfield, UW-Parkside advanced all the way to the championship game.
They are led by the winningest senior class in school history:
Kaitlyn Bettiga,
Brittany Beyer,
Jadee Rooney, and
Amy Selk. That quartet is 87-29 (.750) since stepping on campus. Beyer and Rooney can also become the school's all-time scoring duo with 20 points in Thursday's game.
Kentucky Wesleyan won its first-ever GLVC tournament game on Sunday afternoon against Saint Joseph's to reach today's quarterfinal match-up. The Panthers were an NCAA Tournament team a year ago earning an at-large bid in the field.
They are led in scoring by Katie Behrens 10.5 points per game but offer and extremely balanced attack. The Panthers sub freely throughout the game with 11 players averaging at least 10 minutes played per game.
The winner of Thursday's game will face the winner of the first quarterfinal game between Drury University and the University of Indianapolis. That GLVC Semifinal game is set for 12:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
