Evansville, Ind.- 14th-ranked Southern Indiana went 7-for-10 from the three-point line in the first half to open up a big lead en route to a 77-50 win over the Rangers on Thursday night. The loss drops the Rangers to 8-14 while USI improves to 18-4.
Jeremy Saffold led UW-Parkside with 19 points on a 7-for-13 effort from the floor. The junior is now just 22 points away from becoming the 20th player in school history to score 1,000 career points.
The Screaming Eagles jumped out to a 14-4 lead in the early going on the strength eight points and a pair of threes from senior Brandon Hogg. He led finished with 14 on the night.
The Rangers responded scoring seven straight points to cut the deficit to three.

From there, USI was able to regain control outscoring UWP 27-9 over the final 14:18 of the half to open up a 41-20 lead. USI came in as the league's top defensive team and held the Rangers to a season-low scoring output.
Parkside had another 8-0 run in them to cut a 25-point lead down to 17 in the second half. Saffold had five in the spurt to claw back within range.
But the Screaming Eagles scored the next 11 points to open things up and move to 10-4 in the league.
For the night, USI shot 48.4% compared to 31.1% for the Rangers. Parkside was limited to a 2-for-12 output from behind the three-point arc.
The Rangers will wrap up the weekend trip south as they to Owensboro, Ky. Parkside will face seventh-ranked Kentucky Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
