Indianapolis came right back with an unconventional four-point possession. Sidney Weinart scored in the paint and drew Selk's fifth foul to cut it down to two. She missed the ensuing free throw but the Greyhounds grabbed the board and Katy McIntosh finished the possession with the lay-up to tie the game yet again.
That set the stage for Bettiga. After a Ranger timeout, the senior point guard slashed down the right side of the lane, drawing contact at the hoop and finishing the lay-up for a 72-70 lead with 12 ticks to go. She knocked down the free throw, the Rangers only attempt at the line in the half, to make it 73-70.
The Greyhounds called a timeout with seven seconds to go to set up their final play. That shot also capped a 2-for-21 effort from the three-point line for Indianapolis.
A game that featured 11 lead changes and 10 ties lived up to its billing as a matchup of two of the league's top teams. Parkside used great efficiency offensively going perfect at the foul line (13-for-13) and 54.5% from the three-point arc (6-for-11). They also committed just 10 turnovers while forcing 13 from the Hounds.
The Rangers got off to a good start in the second half scoring seven straight in the early going to take their biggest lead at 10.
Amy Selk had a couple of baskets in the lane before Rooney buried an open three to make it 48-38.
But the Greyhounds responded quickly by going on a 20-4 run on the strength of four, three-point plays. Eliza Wortman knocked down a turnaround jumper in the lane with 10:45 left to give Indianapolis the lead for the first time in the second half. A pair of free throws by Nikole Gonser made it 60-54 with 7:45 to go.
In a game of runs it was the Rangers who pushed back again. They scored seven straight points on a pair of lay-ups by Beyer and a three by Rooney to re-take the lead at 61-60.
Indy came right back with a hoop but Rooney countered with another three to set up an exciting finish.
The Greyhounds jumped out to an early lead on the back of Turner. She scored 11 of the team's first 15 points as they jumped out to a 15-8, the biggest for either team in the first half.
Trailing 18-12 the Rangers countered with six straight points to knot the score. Parkside started to attack the rim and evened things up with six straight free throws.
From there the lead ping-ponged back and forth before
Jenna Endisch knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the final two minutes. Her second, with 34 seconds left in the half, gave the Rangers a 35-32 lead at the break.
The Rangers will now return home for a pair of games next weekend.
