Northern Kentucky completed the sweep with two, one-run wins on Saturday

Game One Box Score

Game Two Box Score

Highland Heights, Ky.- The UW-Parkside baseball team's postseason chances took a potentially fatal hit as the Rangers suffered two, one-run losses at Northern Kentucky University. Parkside held leads in each game, including into the bottom of the eighth in game two, but fell 2-1 and 3-2 on Saturday.

Parkside had just one run on four hits in the opener and got all of that sans one hit in the opening inning. Corey Stonelake, Dave Lojeski, and Kirk Haviland had three straight singles with two outs to give the Rangers their first lead of the series. From that point on they were limited to just one baserunner, a Lojeski bunt single in the fourth.

Northern Kentucky scored the tying run in the third on a double play groundout. They scored the eventual winning run in the fourth on a two-out single and held on for the victory.

Alex Zarek took the loss for the Rangers, going all six innings while giving up two runs on six hits.

In game two, Parkside grabbed the lead in the top of the eighth but couldn't hand on. Ben Korman's RBI-single to score Lojeski broke a one-all tie and put the Rangers in position for the win.

But the Norse answered with two runs in the bottom of the eighth with a couple of run-scoring singles. The second run was unearned tagging Nick Mishevich with the tough-luck loss. He tossed a complete game allowing two unearned runs on nine hits.

They got their first run in the opening inning on a Lojeski groundout to score John Perszyk. Perszyk collected three of the Rangers 12 hits in game two. They out-hit the Norse, 12-9. Korman and Haviland each had two hits in the game.

The Rangers will return home to complete the regular season, playing the final seven games in Kenosha. The stretch begins on Wednesday with a single game on Wednesday against Carroll University.
