The Rangers advanced to the "Sweet 16" by recording their first NCAA basketball wins in school history; defeating Missouri S&T (73-55) and Quincy (73-62). They have won a school record 24 games and have won eight of nine games coming into the regional final.
The Huskies of Michigan Tech are looking for their third straight Midwest Regional Championship and are ranked third in the country with a record of 28-2. The champions of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference have won 15 straight games and are 17-0 at home this season. They have been one of the nation's top defensive teams allowing just 53.7 points per game.
The winner of tonight's game will advance to the NCAA Division II "Elite Eight" in St. Joseph, Missouri on March 22 to face the champion of the South Region. The South Regional championship game tonight pits the nation's number one team, Arkansas Tech (29-2), against fourth-ranked Delta State (28-3).
