Box Score
The University of Wisconsin-Parkside volleyball team fell in straight sets (21-25, 17-25, 21-25) to 12
th-ranked Northern Kentucky University on Saturday afternoon. The Rangers, who gave the Norse one of their three losses on Sept. 23, were unable to get things going in the rematch.
“We just got beat, plain and simple,” said head coach
Christine Paciero. “Northern Kentucky is a very good team with a great setter. We didn't play the defense today that we did against them the first time, particularly on the block.”
The Rangers got a match-high 12 kills from
Bridget Nickel and
Addie Kramer added seven. Kramer moved into third on the program's all-time kills list with 1,107.
Stacie Bower had eight digs as Northern Kentucky swung at a remarkable .355 clip for the match. Parkside was able to muster just 25 digs to go with four blocks.
The Rangers were within a point late in the first set at 19-18 before the Norse scored six out of the last night points to claim the set. NKU then jumped out to an 11-4 lead in the second and never let Parkside get any closer the rest of the way.
A night after three come-from-behind wins at Bellarmine, the Rangers weren't able to conjure up that same magic on Saturday. They trimmed a four point deficit in half at 19-17 but NKU scored three in a row to widen the margin and keep Parkside at bay.
The Rangers will have little time to recover as they'll be back on the court again Tuesday night at 20
th-ranked Lewis University. They hold a four-game cushion with five matches left in solidifying the school's first GLVC Tournament slot since 2003.
