The Ranger men's basketball team broke free from a 56-56 deadlock with just under 2 minutes left in the game to pull out a 63-57 victory over visiting Missouri S&T Thursday night. The win gives the Rangers a 7-10 overall record and a 4-6 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The Miners are 6-11 overall and 2-8 in the league.
Leneal Harris grabbed an offensive rebound with 20 ticks left on the clock and his Rangers up by a conventional bucket. The extra possession results in a pair of free throws by Jordan Mach, giving the Rangers a 61-57 advantage with 14 seconds to go.
Tim Baines grabbed the Miners' final shot of the game on the other end of the floor. Harris broke free down the court and scored a layup as time expired.
Mach was the leading scorer in the game with 23 points. Sam Katula added 13 points. Baines chipped in 11.
Missouri S&T fell despite shooting 51 percent from the floor. The Rangers made good on 41 percent of their shots.
The Rangers will host Maryville on Alumni Day Saturday at 3 p.m.
