With the exception of a very early 3-2 lead, the UW-Parkside men's basketball team trailed the entire game in its 90-79 loss at Quincy Thursday night.
The Hawks were up, 25-24, with just under 7 minutes to play in the first half. Quincy then went on an 18-5 run to take a 43-29 lead and went into halftime with a 45-33 bulge.
Early in the second half, the Rangers cut the lead to six on numerous occasions, including making it 53-47, but that was as close as they would get the rest of the game. Over the next two-and-a-half minutes, Quincy went on an 11-0 run to take a 64-47 margin.
The Rangers had one last run at the Hawks, cutting the lead to eight with just under 3 minutes to play, but the visitors were never able to get any closer.
The loss puts the Ranger record at 6-8 overall and 3-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Quincy is now 3-3 in league play and 10-4 overall.
UW-Parkside was led by Tim Baines, who scored 24 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Jordan Mach added 19 points and was 6-9 from behind the three-point arc.
The Rangers now head back home for a match-up with Northern Kentucky Saturday, January 15, at 3:00 p.m.
