The Rangers soared to a 17-point lead after the first half, only to fall to visiting Michigan Tech Sunday afternoon, 71-62. The non-conference game was played in the DeSimone Gymnasium.
Jordan Mach drilled a pair of three point shots in the final 40 seconds of the first half, the last one at the buzzer, to give the Rangers a 39-22 advantage.
The Huskies used a 24-6 run to start the second half and gain a 46-45 lead, a lead they would never relinquish.
"We worked harder than they did in the first half and they worked harder than we did in the second half," explained Reigel.
Mike Hojnacki came up big for the Huskies. His putback gave Tech their initial second half lead and then he drained a pair of three-pointers to put his team up 58-52 with 4:29 to go in the game. Tech jumped to 5-1 on the season, while the Rangers fell to 1-3.
Leneal Harris led the Rangers with 24 points. Hojnacki had 22 for the Huskies.
The Rangers will next play at Missouri-St. Louis Thursday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m.
