The UW-Parkside women's soccer team faced one of its stiffest tests of the season and earned a passing mark at Wood Road Field Friday afternoon. The team shutout visiting Quincy, 1-0, to up their overall record to 11-1-1 and 10-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Quincy, a formidable foe which has been in the NCAA tournament in each of the last four seasons, is now 8-3-3 overall and 6-2-3 in league play.

The lone tally of the match came with just 50 ticks left on the first half clock. Megan Owen found the back of the net with help from Kelsey Armour and Natalie Brown.

The defense did the rest, limiting the Hawks to just three shots on goal, all turned away by Ranger goalkeeper Cassie Glodowski.

"It was a good, scrappy win for us," said UW-Parkside head coach Troy Fabiano. "The girls played hard and gave the effort needed to get the win. It was a physical game. Both teams worked hard."

The final regular season home game of the season comes Sunday, Oct. 17, at 2:30 p.m. versus Illinois-Springfield.
