Box Score

It was a far better game than the Rangers' 75-54 loss at Upper Iowa last month. The Peacocks withstood an early Ranger storm and pulled off the sweep of the UW-Parkside men's basketball team with an 81-65 victory in the DeSimone Gymnasium Tuesday night in front of 1,011 fans.

The win lifts the Peacocks' record to 5-5. UW-Parkside is now 6-5 and wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule.

The Rangers led by 16 points, 8 minutes into the contest. Upper Iowa trimmed the lead all the way down to one at 40-39 at halftime. The visitors scored on their first two possessions of the second half and were on their way to victory.

Jeremy Saffold led the Rangers in scoring, like he did at Upper Iowa. This time the freshman scored 20 points. Grant Johnson was the only other Ranger in double digits with 10.

Brad Burgus paced the Peacocks with 16 points.

The Rangers shot 48 percent in the first half and were limited to 31 percent shooting in the second stanza. The Peacocks made good on 55 percent of their shots in the second half.

UW-Parkside will play its next four games on the road. The first of which will be at Bellarmine Saturday, Jan. 2, starting at 7 p.m. CST. The game was originally supposed to be a day game; however, Bellarmine changed the starting time four days prior.
