The UW-Parkside men's basketball team struggled throughout a game against now 1-11 Clarke College, but found a way to pull out a 73-63 victory.

Clarke, an NAIA school from Dubuque, Iowa, had its last lead with 12 minutes to go in the game. Grant Johnson drove the hoop to give the Rangers a 50-49 lead, a lead they would not relinquish. Jeremy Saffold followed up with a jump hook as Parkside finished a 7-0 run and were on their way.

The Rangers had 21 turnovers in the contest.

"Sometimes you have to win ugly," said UW-Parkside head coach Luke Reigel on the Coin's Sports Bar post-game show on WRJN. "That's what we did tonight. We won ugly."

Johnson poured in 23 points for the Rangers on 9-14 shooting. Saffold scored 17 points and Sam Katula chipped in a dozen off the bench.

The Rangers shot well, 51 percent from the floor. They out-rebounded their guests, 40-35.

Next up for the Rangers is a home game with Judson Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 7 p.m. Judson was the lone win for Clarke this season. That game was decided in overtime. The Rangers will be out to seize their third consecutive win.
