Hawks soar in Quincy

Box Score

A Quincy men's basketball team loaded with Division I transfers was too much for UW-Parkside as the Hawks took an 88-67 victory over the Rangers in Quincy's Pepsi Arena Thursday night.

A 3-0 Ranger lead early didn't last long as the Hawks quickly held a double digit lead, just 6 minutes into the contest. Quincy led, 56-37 at halftime, and led by as many as 27 points with 13 minutes left in the game.

The nation's second leading scorer, LaVontay Fenderson, led all scorers, putting 24 points in the scorebook. Dave Keane knocked down his first three three-point shots in the first half, but then was a marked man and was held to 13 points. DaMarcus Bell notched 10 points to go with seven rebounds.

Billy Baptist and Josh Edmonds had 16 points each for the Hawks.

The Rangers were limited to 34 percent shooting from the floor, while the Hawks made good on half of their shots.

The Rangers saw their modest two game winning streak snapped and are now 5-10 overall and 2-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Quincy jumped to 10-5 overall and 3-3 in league play.

UW-Parkside will head north on I-55 to Romeoville, Illinois, where it will take on Lewis Saturday at 3 p.m.
