Box Score
The UW-Parkside men's basketball team found itself on the wrong end of a blowout last Saturday. Thursday night in the DeSimone Gymnasium, the team reversed its fortunes. The Rangers won in box-to-wire fashion with a 98-60 thrashing of Missouri S&T (formerly known as Missouri-Rolla).
Dave Keane came off the bench and sparked the Ranger uprising. He tallied 20 of his 23 points in the first half, drilling four of his five three-pointers. He helped ignite a 13-0 run mid-way through the first half as the Rangers parlayed a 16-8 lead into a 29-8 advantage.
Not to be out-done was LaVontay Fenderson who logged 21 points. Both Keane and Fenderson were 8-11 from the floor.
Brad Ferstenou scored down low, scoring 13 points on 6 of 7 shooting. Kyle Jeffery and Kyle Clark rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 and 10 respectively.
The Rangers led 45-27 at the half. The team shot 51 percent from the floor in elevating its record to 10-5 overall. The Rangers are 3-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and have won three of their last four conference tilts.
The Miners dropped to 3-11 overall and 0-6 in league play.
Despite the lopsided loss, Missouri S&T out-rebounded the Rangers, 37-35.
UW-Parkside will tangle with the Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis Saturday, Jan. 19, at 3 p.m. That game will be played in the DeSimone Gymnasium.
