Historically, the UW-Parkside women's soccer team has struggled at Lewis. This despite the fact the Rangers usually are positioned higher in the standings.
The Flyers logged a 1-0 victory over the Rangers in Romeoville, Illinois, Friday afternoon in the Great Lakes Valley Conference finale for both teams. The only goal of the game, notched at 19:29, came on an own goal. The Rangers attempted to clear the box and the ball deflected into the back of the UW-P net.
UW-Parkside went down with a fight, putting 14 shots on goal. Flyer freshman goalkeeper Megan George made her first career shutout a well deserved one.
The loss at Lewis means the Rangers can not finish in the top four of the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings, thus, will be on the road for a first-round game Sunday, Oct. 28.
UW-Parkside will have its final home game of the 2007 season when it hosts Ferris State in a non-conference game Sunday, Oct. 21.
