The University of Wisconsin-Parkside defender Emily Konior was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Sept. 23, earning the Disney Soccer Division II Women's Player of the Week Award.

Konior claims the national accolade after helping the 14th-ranked Rangers (5-0-1, 3-0-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference) post a pair of road victories last weekend to claim sole possession of first place in the league standings. The senior played all 90 minutes in Parkside's 2-1 upset of then 20th-ranked Rockhurst University on Friday, limiting the hosts to just two shots on goal. Two days later, the criminal justice major played all but two minutes of the Rangers' dominating 4-0 victory over William Jewell College, allowing just two shots on frame and collecting the team's fifth shutout of the season. The defender, who was named GLVC Defender of the Week on Monday, additionally netted a goal in the 47th minute on a free kick in her lone shot of the game. The goal was Konior's third of the season.

Konior and the Ranger defense have allowed just six shots on frame and one goal all season.

The NSCAA began awarding the Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week to all three NCAA divisions in 2013.  Since that time, a total of 22 national awards have been distributed across Division II. The Huntley, Illinois native is the second Ranger to win the award as goalkeeper Mallory Geurts secured the honor on October 8, 2013.
