Christopher "C.J." Selner was promoted to Associate Athletic Director for External Operations in June of 2024 after joining the Parkside Athletics staff as Director of Strategic Communications in October of 2022.
Selner oversees the department's strategic communications, marketing, creative services, broadcasting, ticketing and fan engagement initiatives while directing the Rangers' external operations. He supervises Parkside's athletics website, social media strategy, live streaming operations, branding efforts and game day communications while leading a staff of full-time employees, graduate assistants and student workers.
Since arriving at Parkside, Selner has led significant growth across the department's digital and external communications efforts. Under his leadership, Parkside Athletics has experienced substantial growth across its social media platforms while enhancing the department's digital storytelling and brand presence. He has also overseen a complete consolidation and organization of the department's branding and marketing initiatives, creating a more consistent identity across all 15 varsity sports.
Selner has played a key role in elevating Parkside's live event production, introducing replay capabilities to FloSports broadcasts and the De Simone Arena video boards while significantly improving the overall quality of the Rangers' live streaming productions. He also served as the media coordinator for the 2026 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships, hosted by Parkside at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course.
Prior to arriving at Parkside, Selner served as the athletic communications director at Concordia University Chicago, where he led all aspects of the department's communications operation, including website management, social media strategy, graphic design, statistics, broadcasting and game day operations. During his tenure, the Cougars experienced consistent year-over-year growth in social media engagement while he developed a multi-camera live streaming system featuring instant replay.
Selner also spent five months as the sports information director at the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois, overseeing the Saints' website, statistics, social media and game day communications. Prior to that, he served as a graduate assistant and later athletic communications director at Concordia University Chicago.
Selner played baseball for four years at CUC as an undergraduate student, where he made 34 appearances (25 starts) and threw 153 innings. Selner compiled a 12-5 record and one save with a 4.12 ERA and 107 strikeouts.
Selner is a two-time graduate of Concordia Chicago, receiving his MBA in 2018 and his bachelors degree in communications in 2015.Â
