Ben Kreple was originally slated to be redshirted during the 2006 season. As the pre-season wore on, it became evident that he deserved to be on the field. Once he stepped on the field, he never stepped off. For the first half of 2006, Kreple solidified the defensive midfield postion. He was moved to central defense and did an outstanding job. He is an excellent one-on-one defender who has an uncanny ability to read the game. He possesses break-away speed which allows him to recover from almost any situation. He will anchor the defense as either a central defender of defensive midfielder. Kreple's high school honors include all-conference, all-district and all-region. His club team made it to the state finals.
