Reid Gibbs

Reid Gibbs enters his first year as an assistant coach with the Ranger Men’s Basketball Program. He comes to Parkside after spending two seasons as an assistant boys basketball coach at Stoughton (WI) High School, where he helped the Vikings to a Regional Championship in 2017-2018 as well as a Badger South Conference Championship in 2016-2017. The Vikings posted a win-loss record of 35-14, including a 22-4 mark in conference play the past two seasons. Gibbs helped develop six Viking players named to the Badger South All-Conference team.

Gibbs has been highly involved in coaching AAU basketball with the Wisconsin Swing Boys Basketball Program, one of the top club teams in the state of Wisconsin. Over the past five summers, the Wisconsin Swing 15U, 16U, and 17U teams posted a combined record of 282-107.

In July of 2016, both the Wisconsin Swing 16U and 17U squads won the inaugural NY2LA Sports Next Level Association Championships in their respective age divisions. Two weeks later, the 16U squad concluded it’s season by capturing the NY2LA Sports Final Chapter Tournament Championship in Las Vegas. Gibbs helped develop 22 Wisconsin Swing players that have gone on to play college basketball, including five that are currently playing at the NCAA Division I level (Rod Johnson, Jr. at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Chris Knight at Dartmouth University, Alex Arians and Ryan Krueger at South Dakota State University, and Mitch Listau at Belmont University).

Gibbs played collegiately at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville where he was a two-year lettermen. In those two seasons, the Pioneers compiled a win-loss record of 42-13, including a 25-7 mark in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. He was a forward on the 2008-2009 UW-Platteville squad that finished the season 23-6 and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III tournament, which was the program’s first post season appearance since 1999.

The Marion, Iowa native was an All-Mississippi Valley Conference and All-Cedar Rapids Metro forward at Linn-Mar High School, one of the state’s premier basketball powerhouses. In his senior season, Gibbs led the Lions to a 23-4 record, the Mississippi Valley Conference title, and a fourth place finish at the 2006 Iowa Boys Class 4-A State Tournament.

Gibbs earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from UW-Platteville. He received his Master’s Degree in Sports Management from Winona State (MN) University.
