Josh Colon joined the Ranger baseball program prior to the 2013-2014 school year and will work as an infield and hitting coach.

Colon served as a hitting and fielding instructor at Heartland Community College prior to joining the Rangers staff. Colon also served as a student assistant coach for Illinois State University in 2012, working with both infielders and hitters while also serving as first base coach.

Colon played collegiately at Illinois State, serving as the starting shortstop in 2011, helping the Redbirds set a school record for wins. He was an Honorable Mention All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, finishing the season hitting .309 with 12 doubles and 11 multi-hit games. As a junior, Colon helped Illinois State secure its first ever regular season Conference title.

Prior to Illinois State, Colon played two seasons with Heartland CC, earning All-Conference accolades after hitting .381 with 20 extra base hits and 42 RBIs.

As a prep, Colon was a three-time All-City Selection in Chicago while earning All-Region and Pioneer Press Player of the Year Honors in 2007.
