KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside men's soccer returns to the road this week for a pair of GLIAC matches, beginning Wednesday, Sept. 30, against Purdue Northwest at noon CT at Pepsi Field at Dowling Park in Hammond, Indiana, before making the trip to the Upper Peninsula to face Northern Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 4, at noon ET/11 a.m. CT at the NMU Outdoor Fields in Marquette, Michigan.
The Rangers enter the week 3-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in GLIAC play with four conference points, tied with Davenport for fifth in the league standings. Parkside opened its home conference slate last weekend with a 3-2 loss to Davenport on Friday before battling Saginaw Valley State to a scoreless draw Sunday.
Sosa leads the Rangers with three goals and six points and is the only Parkside player with multiple goals this season. Six different Rangers have found the back of the net, while five players have recorded an assist. Scheiber ranks second on the team with three points and leads Parkside with 17 shots and 10 shots on goal. Pablo Seco has attempted 14 shots, Sosa has 13 and Massimo Juarez, Stefan Zekanovic and Angel Luevano have each reached double figures. Nicolas De Andres is the only Parkside field player to have played all 720 minutes this season, while Pass has also played every minute in goal.
Despite scoring eight goals through eight matches and owning a minus-one goal differential, Parkside has continued to create opportunities at one of the highest rates in the GLIAC. The Rangers lead the conference with 13.63 shots per match and 6.13 shots on goal per match. They are also the league's least-frequently whistled team at 9.38 fouls per match, a mark that ranks 22nd nationally.
Pass enters the week leading the GLIAC with 4.25 saves per match and 34 total saves. He ranks fourth in the conference with a 1.13 goals-against average and is tied for second with three shutouts. His .791 save percentage ranks third in the league. Sosa's three goals are tied for fifth in the GLIAC, while Scheiber ranks fourth in the conference with 1.25 shots on goal per match and sixth with 2.13 shots per game.

SCOUTING PURDUE NORTHWEST:
Purdue Northwest enters Wednesday's matchup 5-1-2 overall and 2-1-1 in GLIAC play, giving the Lions seven conference points and sole possession of third place in the standings. The start is PNW's best through eight matches in the Purdue Northwest era, dating back to 2016.
The Lions are coming off an unbeaten weekend against the same two opponents Parkside faced. PNW battled Saginaw Valley State to a 0-0 draw Friday before earning a 1-0 victory over Davenport on Sunday. Aloe Berassa scored the lone goal against the Panthers in the 15th minute, helping PNW extend its shutout streak to 180 consecutive minutes.
Purdue Northwest has been particularly strong defensively, allowing only six goals through eight matches for a 0.75 team goals-against average, which ranks second in the GLIAC. The Lions have posted four shutouts and own a .833 team save percentage, also second in the conference. PNW has outscored opponents 9-6 and enters Wednesday with a plus-three goal differential.
Landon Potts, a second-team All-GLIAC selection last season, leads the attack with three goals and seven points. Potts has taken a team-high 23 shots and put 10 on goal, ranking third in the GLIAC with 2.88 shots per match and fourth with 1.25 shots on goal per match. The scoring has been spread throughout the lineup, however, with seven different Lions finding the back of the net. Gianluca Franco and Nikola Ivetic share the team lead with two assists apiece.
Freshman Estefano Alvear and junior Xavier Fernandez have shared the goalkeeping duties. Alvear has allowed just three goals in more than 450 minutes, recording 21 saves, a .875 save percentage and three shutouts. His 0.60 goals-against average ranks second in the GLIAC and 13th nationally, while his save percentage ranks sixth in Division II. Fernandez has made nine saves and owns one shutout in three appearances.
Purdue Northwest was picked sixth in the seven-team GLIAC preseason coaches poll with 11 points. Head coach Luke Dunn is in his fourth season leading the program.
Wednesday will mark the 29th all-time meeting between Parkside and Purdue Northwest, with the Rangers holding a commanding 20-4-4 advantage in a series that dates back to 1979. The teams split their two meetings last season. Parkside earned a dramatic 1-0 road victory in Hammond on Sept. 28, 2025, when Angel Luevano scored the first goal of his collegiate career with 63 seconds remaining, before PNW responded with a 2-0 victory in Kenosha on Halloween.
Parkside has won three of the last five meetings and each of its last two trips to Hammond. The Rangers are 7-2-2 all-time on the road against the Lions.
SCOUTING NORTHERN MICHIGAN:
Northern Michigan enters the week 5-2-2 overall and unbeaten at 2-0-2 in GLIAC play. The reigning GLIAC Tournament champions are tied with Roosevelt atop the conference table with eight points and will face Purdue Northwest on Friday before Sunday's matchup with Parkside.
The Wildcats closed a four-match road trip last weekend by earning a 1-1 draw at Roosevelt on Friday before rolling to a 4-0 victory over St. Cloud State on Sunday. Four different Wildcats scored against the Huskies, with James Carr, Luca Rosen, Asa Dean and Vinni DaSilva each finding the back of the net.
Northern Michigan has developed into the GLIAC's most productive offensive team through the first month of the season. The Wildcats lead the conference with 23 goals, 21 assists and 67 points while averaging 2.56 goals per match. Their 23 goals rank 17th nationally, their 2.56 scoring average ranks 15th and their 2.33 assists per match rank 14th in Division II. NMU also owns a GLIAC-best plus-10 goal differential.
At the center of that attack is senior captain Luca Rosen, who has emerged as one of the top offensive players in Division II. Rosen leads the nation with 11 goals and 1.22 goals per match and has accumulated 25 points through nine games. His 2.78 points per game also lead Division II, while his 25 total points rank second nationally. Rosen ranks second nationally with 2.67 shots on goal per match, seventh with 4.22 shots per game and fifth with three game-winning goals. He has put 24 of his 38 attempts on frame.
Northern Michigan's attack extends well beyond Rosen. Noah Preston-Watkins has scored three goals, while DaSilva and Sam Pilgrim have added two apiece. Nine different Wildcats have scored this season and four have multiple goals. Sergio Cano Castro leads the GLIAC with six assists, a total that ranks fifth nationally, while Ian Weimer has four assists and DaSilva and Rosen have three apiece.
In goal, Asaf Kristal has started eight matches and recorded 32 saves with a .744 save percentage and 1.39 goals-against average.
The Wildcats were picked third in the seven-team GLIAC preseason coaches poll with 23 points, one spot ahead of Parkside. Fifth-year head coach Alex Fatovic's team finished 9-5-6 last season before winning the GLIAC Tournament as the No. 3 seed. Northern Michigan defeated Saginaw Valley State 1-0 on the road in the championship match before its season ended in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
Sunday will mark the 16th all-time meeting between Parkside and Northern Michigan, with the Rangers holding an 11-2-2 advantage in the series. Parkside went 1-0-1 against NMU last season, earning a 3-1 victory in Marquette before the teams played to a scoreless draw in Kenosha. The Rangers have won seven of the last nine meetings, with their lone loss during that stretch coming Nov. 3, 2024, in Kenosha. Parkside is a perfect 8-0 all-time against Northern Michigan in Marquette and has never lost on the Wildcats' home field. The series began in 2018, Parkside's first season as a member of the GLIAC.
