KENOSHA, Wis. — The Parkside men's soccer team played Saginaw Valley State to a 0-0 draw on Sunday afternoon. The Rangers withstood six SVSU attacks over a late stretch without conceding. This marks the first regular season draw between SVSU and Parkside since Oct. 7, 2022.
Parkside generated the first run of chances, with
Keven Sosa putting a shot on frame early and Pablo Seco adding two attempts before
Hudson Scheiber tested Nick Kay in the 14th minute. The Cardinals answered with a stretch of their own, recording three shots and a corner while the match stayed scoreless. The half grew more physical through the middle stages, including a Parkside corner and a
Massimo Juarez shot before he received a yellow card. Both sides created late looks — SVSU around a corner and Parkside through
Tank Anderson and
Alexis Vera in the final minutes — but the half ended without a goal.
The Cardinals opened the second half with pressure, forcing
Mateusz Pass to save Matty Telfer's shot, hitting the top woodwork through Jo Bédard, and adding three more shots before Pass stopped Amadou Kouyate with the match still 0-0. During a physical stretch that included fouls by both teams and two SVSU yellow cards, Parkside got attempts from Sosa, whose shot was saved by Nick Kay, and Scheiber. After the Cardinals generated shots from Telfer and Kouyate around a corner, Parkside created three chances in a short span from Anderson, Gio Magana, and Seco Zabala, with Anderson's shot saved by Kay and Magana's stopped by a team save. SVSU made the final push with shots and corners in the closing stretch, but Pass saved Kouyate's attempt,
Lucas Ahonen made a clutch save on the goal line on Bédard, and the match ended 0-0.
Pass played all 90 minutes in goal, made four saves, and recorded a shutout. Scheiber shared the team lead with three shots and put one on goal. Seco also finished with three shots. Sosa recorded two shots, both on goal.
Parkside is 3-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play. SVSU is 3-1-4 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play.
