KENOSHA, Wis. — The Parkside men's soccer team lost to Davenport 3-2 on Friday. The Rangers outshot Davenport 22-8, including 13-6 in the second half, and generated seven second-half corner kicks.
The Rangers created the first early looks, with
Valentin Sandoval forcing a save from Carter McGowan before a corner kick. Davenport went in front in the eighth minutewhen Dugan Black scored off an assist from Jordy Rodriguez for a 1-0 lead. The Rangers built pressure later in the half with a run of shots, including saved attempts by
Hudson Scheiber and
Pablo Seco Zabala. Scheiber equalized in the 38th minute with a strike inside the left post off
Stefan Zekanovic's assist.
Davenport pushed the margin early in the second half, with Isiah Meyer scoring off Archie Oliver's assist in the 48th minute to make it 2-1 before Charlie Davis converted a penalty kick in the 56th minute to make it 3-1.
The Rangers continued to press late, and
Keven Sosa converted a penalty kick at 84th minute to pull the Rangers within 3-2. Seco Zabala had another shot saved and
Alexis Vera added a late attempt, but Davenport was able to hold on for the 3-2 final.
Scheiber scored and put both of his shots on goal, finishing with two points. Sosa added a goal on his lone shot on frame and converted his only penalty attempt. Zekanovic recorded the Rangers' lone assist. Gio Magana led the team with six shots, including three on goal.
The Rangers are 3-4-0 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play. Davenport is 2-3-3 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.
