KENOSHA, Wis. — Parkside men's soccer returns to Wood Road Field this week for its first two home GLIAC matches of the 2026 season, hosting Davenport on Friday, Sept. 25, at noon before welcoming (RV) Saginaw Valley State on Sunday, Sept. 27, at 2:30 p.m. CT. Sunday's match will serve as Alumni Day and will be the second half of a Parkside men's and women's soccer doubleheader. The link for alumni to register can be found here.

The Rangers enter the weekend 3-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in GLIAC play, tied with Purdue Northwest and Saginaw Valley State for third in the conference standings with three points. Parkside opened league play with a pair of road matches last week, falling 1-0 at Roosevelt on Thursday before responding with a 3-0 victory at St. Cloud State on Sunday.

Parkside broke through early against the Huskies when Pablo Seco scored the first goal of his collegiate career in the 18th minute. Jaime Vazquez doubled the advantage in the 37th before junior Keven Sosa put the finishing touches on the victory with a goal in the 75th minute. The Rangers made the most of their opportunities, putting five of their six shots on goal despite being outshot 11-6. Mateusz Pass made five saves as Parkside recorded its second shutout of the season.

Sosa leads the Rangers with two goals and four points through six matches, while Angel Luevano, Stefan Zekanovic, Seco and Vazquez have each scored once. Hudson Scheiber has generated a team-high 12 shots and seven shots on goal, while Sosa, Zekanovic and Luevano have each attempted nine shots. Scheiber, Massimo Juarez, Alexis Vera and Gio Magana have each recorded an assist.

While Parkside has scored six goals through its first six matches, the Rangers have also surrendered just six, producing an even goal differential. Their 1.00 team goals-against average ranks second in the GLIAC. Pass has been at the center of that defensive effort, leading the conference with 28 saves and averaging a league-best 4.67 saves per match. His .824 save percentage ranks third in the GLIAC, while his two shutouts are tied for second in the conference.

SCOUTING DAVENPORT:
The Panthers (1-3-3, 0-1-1 GLIAC) enter the weekend still searching for their first conference victory and sit sixth in the seven-team GLIAC with one point through two league matches. Davenport opened conference play with a 6-0 loss at Saginaw Valley State last Wednesday before returning home Sunday and battling Northern Michigan to a 1-1 draw.

Offensively, Davenport has scored five goals in seven matches and averages 0.71 goals per game, the lowest mark in the GLIAC. The Panthers also rank last in the league in shots per match at 7.00 and shots on goal per match at 2.43. On the other end, Davenport has surrendered 17 goals and owns a minus-12 goal differential.

Isiah Meyer leads the Panthers with two goals and four points while also pacing the team with seven shots. Meyer, Dugan Black and Kevin Hubbell have each put three attempts on goal, while Black, Charlie Davis and Hubbell have one goal apiece. Drew Matyunas, Payton Wright and Archie Oliver have accounted for Davenport's three assists.

Junior goalkeeper Beau Hudd has made five starts and recorded 20 saves, averaging four per match with a .667 save percentage and one shutout. Hudd entered the season after earning second-team All-GLIAC honors in 2025, while Davis returned after being named the 2025 GLIAC Freshman of the Year, first-team All-GLIAC and first-team All-Region.

Friday will mark the 21st all-time meeting between Parkside and Davenport, with the Rangers holding a narrow 8-7-5 advantage in the series. The teams played three times last season and finished level in all three meetings. Parkside and Davenport drew 2-2 in Kenosha before playing to a 1-1 draw in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They met again in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals at Wood Road Field, where the match finished tied before Davenport advanced 8-7 in penalty kicks. The Panthers also ended Parkside's season in the 2024 GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals with a 2-0 victory in Grand Rapids. Parkside is 2-4-4 all-time at home against Davenport and will look for its first home victory over the Panthers since 2022.

SCOUTING (RV) SAGINAW VALLEY STATE:
(RV) Saginaw Valley State enters the week 3-1-2 overall and 1-1-0 in GLIAC play, tied with Parkside and Purdue Northwest for third in the conference standings with three points. The Cardinals will visit Purdue Northwest in Hammond, Indiana, on Friday before traveling to Kenosha for Sunday's matchup.

SVSU opened conference play in dominant fashion with a 6-0 victory over Davenport, scoring four times in the opening half. Matty Telfer recorded a hat trick, while Jo Bédard scored twice in the victory. The Cardinals were unable to carry that momentum into their second league match, however, as Northern Michigan scored in the 88th minute to hand SVSU a 2-1 home loss.

The Cardinals have established themselves as one of the nation's most productive attacking teams, scoring 17 goals through six matches while owning a GLIAC-best plus-10 goal differential. Their 2.83 goals per match lead the conference and rank ninth nationally, while their 2.83 assists per match rank fourth in Division II. SVSU also leads the GLIAC in shots on goal per match at 6.67 and shot accuracy at .526 while ranking second in the league with 12.67 shots per contest.

Telfer has powered the attack with seven goals and 16 points, ranking second in the GLIAC and eighth nationally in total goals. He has scored on seven of his 18 attempts and put 13 shots on frame, giving him a .722 shot accuracy that leads the conference. Bédard has added two goals and three assists for seven points, while Adrian Hatman has a goal and three assists. Nine different Cardinals have scored at least once this season.

Bédard and Hatman share the team lead with three assists, while Telfer, Josh Izu, Narcis Gavalda, Cole Cooper and Oleksiy Kharko have each added two. In net, redshirt senior Nick Kay has started all six matches, making 12 saves while posting a 1.21 goals-against average.

Saginaw Valley State entered the season as the favorite in the GLIAC preseason coaches poll, receiving six of seven first-place votes and 36 points. The Cardinals are coming off an 11-3-4 season in which they captured the 2025 GLIAC regular-season championship. Head coach Louis Barrow's program has won a conference championship in each of the past two seasons, claiming the 2024 GLIAC Tournament title before finishing atop the regular-season table in 2025.

Sunday will be the 22nd all-time meeting between Parkside and Saginaw Valley State, with the Rangers holding a 9-7-5 advantage in the series. The teams split their two meetings last season, with Parkside earning a 2-1 victory at Wood Road Field before the Cardinals responded with a 1-0 win five days later in University Center, Michigan. Parkside owns a 5-3-4 record against Saginaw Valley State in Kenosha.

Following the weekend, Parkside returns to the road for two GLIAC matches.
