ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The Parkside men's soccer team secured its first win in GLIAC play in 2026, defeating St. Cloud State 3-0 on the road on Sunday afternoon. Despite being outshot 11-6, the Rangers posted the shutout, finishing with five saves.
Parkside absorbed early pressure as the Huskies put two shots wide in the opening minutes and later forced
Mateusz Pass into a save before a team save kept the score level. After a foul-heavy stretch and a second Parkside corner, Pablo Seco opened the scoring.
Massimo Juarez received a pass from
Hudson Scheiber just outside the 18-yard box and found Seco Zabala in front of the goal line. Juarez tapped the ball to an open Seco, who slotted it into the bottom right corner, giving Parkside a 1-0 lead.
The Huskies continued to test the back line with saved shots, while Juarez put a shot on frame for Parkside. The Rangers extended their lead after a corner kick in the 36th minute. Gio Magana, after going one-on-one with his defender, sent a beautiful cross into the area. From just inside the six-yard box,
Jaime Vazquez headed it in, securing a 2-0 advantage for Parkside going into halftime.
In the second half, Parkside generated its first chances after a stop-start opening, with Juarez sending a shot left and Magana putting one on frame that Erik Willke saved. The Huskies pressed back with shots from Sidike Jabetah and Santiago Martin, but it was
Keven Sosa who sealed the victory for Parkside. In the 74th minute,
Alexis Vera volleyed a pass to Sosa from just outside the 18. Sosa slipped his defender by cutting right and tucked the ball into the bottom right corner, making it 3-0.
Mateusz Pass added another save on Yousif Atia, and the closing minutes featured two Huskies yellow cards and a late corner. Matteo Bosch's shot went high left as Parkside finished off the 3-0 win.
Seco Zabala scored the game-winning goal with his only shot on goal. Vazquez scored on his lone shot attempt, and Sosa also converted his only shot into a goal. Pass recorded five saves over 90 minutes, finishing without allowing a goal.
Parkside is now 3-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play, while the Huskies fall to 2-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play.
