7/23/2026 12:06:00 PM

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Parkside volleyball team has once again been recognized for its commitment to excellence in the classroom, earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award. The honor marks the Rangers' seventh consecutive season receiving recognition for exceptional academic performance.

The AVCA Team Academic Award is presented to volleyball programs that maintain a year-long team grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale. Parkside's continued success reflects the program's dedication to achieving excellence both on the court and in the classroom.

In addition to the team's national recognition, 12 Rangers were honored by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) for their academic achievements.

Nine Parkside student-athletes earned GLIAC Academic Excellence honors, awarded to student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Three additional Rangers were named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team, recognizing student-athletes who have maintained a cumulative GPA between 3.00 and 3.49.

"This is always an award I am very proud of," said head coach Leigh Barea. "It shows the dedication of the entire team to their success in the classroom. Each of them work tirelessly to be the best they can be, which is going to lead to future success in their careers."
