KENOSHA, Wis. -- After seven years of leadership and growth, Director of Cross Country and Track & Field
Nick Maas has announced his resignation from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside to take the same position at NCAA Division I University of Northern Colorado.
"Nick has had a tremendous impact on our student-athletes and our entire department," said Director of Athletics
Adam Schemm '08. "His passion for developing student-athletes, and vision for our programs helped elevate Parkside Cross Country and Track & Field to new heights. We are grateful for everything he has done for the Rangers and wish him and his family continued success."
Named Director of Cross Country and Track & Field in July 2019, Maas helped guide the Rangers through one of the most successful stretches in program history. During his tenure, Parkside student-athletes rewrote school records, earned NCAA Championship appearances, captured All-American honors, and elevated the program's competitiveness within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and on the national stage.
Among Maas' many accomplishments was helping bring the 2025 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships back to Kenosha, further strengthening Parkside's reputation as one of the premier destinations for cross country in Division II.
The 2025-26 season marked another milestone for the Rangers under Maas, as the men's and women's teams combined to score the most points in program history at the GLIAC Track & Field Championships. The season also culminated multiple GLIAC and All-American honors and with
Johanna Ebert earning the program's first GLIAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year honor.
Throughout his tenure, Maas coached numerous NCAA qualifiers, conference champions, school record holders, and All-Americans while playing an instrumental role in the continued growth of Parkside Cross Country and Track & Field, including the expansion of the roster from 30 in 2019 to over 100 to begin the 2025-26 school year.
A national search for the next Director of Cross Country and Track & Field will begin immediately. Current Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach
James Halford will serve as Interim Director during the search process.
