KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside baseball team used a decisive third-inning outburst, backed by effective pitching throughout, to earn an 11–4 victory over Viterbo on Monday afternoon at Historic Simmons Field.
After a quiet start from both sides, Parkside (15–14, 3–5 GLIAC) broke the game open in the bottom of the third, plating eight runs on five hits to take full control.
Noah Goddard started the rally with a single before
Carter Storti drove him in with an RBI triple.
Angel Rades followed with another triple to extend the lead, and an ensuing Viterbo error brought home a third run. With two on,
Joe Mrowiec delivered the biggest swing of the day, launching a three-run home run to right field. Later in the inning,
Trace Kirchberg capped the scoring with a two-run homer to left, giving Parkside an 8–0 advantage.
The Rangers added to their lead in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded,
Josh Wicker was hit by a pitch to force in a run, and a double play brought home another, pushing the margin to 10–0.
Viterbo responded in the seventh inning, scoring three runs highlighted by a bases-clearing double, and added one more in the eighth. Parkside answered in the bottom of the eighth when
Mason Mitacek drove in
Jackson Lindquist with an RBI single to make it 11–4.
On the mound, Parkside received a strong outing from its pitching staff.
Kyler Kennen got the start and tossed four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while keeping Viterbo off balance.
William Hyland followed with a scoreless fifth inning, working around two walks.
Ryan Schissler (1–0) earned the win with a clean sixth inning in relief. After Viterbo pushed across runs in the seventh,
Maguire Delagrave stabilized the game with a strong eighth inning, striking out three.
Joe Suokko closed things out with a scoreless ninth to secure the win.
Offensively, Parkside totaled seven hits but made the most of its opportunities, drawing 13 walks and delivering timely extra-base hits. Mrowiec and Kirchberg each homered, while Storti and Rades sparked the pivotal third inning with back-to-back triples. Mitacek reached base four times and added an RBI in the win.
