ROCKFORD, Ill. — A five-run fifth inning sparked a dominant offensive showing as Parkside powered past Rockford, 12–3, on Tuesday afternoon at Regent Field.
The Rangers set the tone early, manufacturing a run in the top of the first inning.
Angel Rades opened the game with a double down the left field line and later scored on a
Benjamin Loyd RBI groundout to give Parkside a 1–0 advantage. Rockford responded in the third inning with a solo home run to even the score, but the momentum shift was short-lived.
Parkside broke the game open in the fifth inning with a decisive five-run frame. After
Josh Wicker drove in a run with a single up the middle,
Dylan Sayles followed with a base hit to put multiple runners aboard.
Jackson Lindquist then delivered the defining moment of the afternoon, launching a grand slam to center field to give the Rangers a commanding 6–1 lead.
The Rangers continued to apply pressure in the sixth, capitalizing on defensive miscues by Rockford.
Nolan Maciejewski reached base and eventually scored on an error, while aggressive baserunning led to additional runs. Parkside tallied four runs in the inning—three of them unearned—to extend its lead to 10–2.
Rockford managed to push across single runs in the fifth and sixth innings, including a solo home run, but was unable to string together sustained offense against the Parkside pitching staff.
Hayden Dieschbourg added to the offensive output with a solo home run in the seventh inning, further highlighting Parkside's power at the plate.
Lindquist remained a force at the plate, adding a second home run in the eighth inning and finishing the day with five RBIs. Sayles paced the Rangers with four hits, while Wicker recorded a multi-hit performance and reached base multiple times. Parkside totaled 16 hits and drew five walks.
On the mound,
Peter Mulhern earned the win in relief, delivering three solid innings while allowing two runs—just one earned—and helping maintain Parkside's momentum.
Kyler Kennen got the start and set the tone early, surrendering just one run on two hits over four innings while striking out three.
Braden Sayles and
Chase Powrozek each added a scoreless inning to close out the game, with Powrozek striking out two in the ninth.
