CHICAGO — Parkside fell 59–53 to Roosevelt on Wednesday night at the Goodman Center in a tightly contested GLIAC matchup and a rematch of the teams' New Year's Day meeting in De Simone Arena.
Parkside opened the game with a strong defensive first quarter, limiting Roosevelt to five points and taking the lead after 10 minutes. The Rangers extended the margin to as many as nine points midway through the second quarter and went into halftime leading 20–15, holding Roosevelt to 22.7 percent shooting in the opening half.
Roosevelt responded coming out of the break, scoring 19 points in the third quarter including eight from Kelly Boyle to trim the Parkside lead to 36–34 entering the final period. The teams traded baskets throughout the quarter, with the lead changing hands multiple times as neither side gained more than a three-point advantage.
The fourth quarter remained back-and-forth until the final minutes. Roosevelt finally gained separation on a second-chance three-pointer at the 2:22 mark before going on to seal the game at the foul line, going 9-10 over the final two minutes, finishing 21-of-27 on free throws. Parkside shot 12-of-19 from the stripe and 18-of-56 from the field for the game.
Arni led the Rangers with 20 points, marking her fifth 20-point performance of the season. She also added five rebounds.
Katie Hamill and
Lillie Petersen each scored eight points, while
Alli Hampel chipped in eight off the bench. Parkside finished with 32 rebounds and forced 10 turnovers.
Marie Outlay led Roosevelt with 21 points, and Kelly Boyle added 16 as the Lakers outscored Parkside 25–17 in the fourth quarter.
