Parkside Rallies Past Saint Leo in Sunday Road Win

SAINT LEO, Fla. — The Parkside Rangers broke open a back-and-forth game with runs in four straight innings, pulling away for a 12–10 win over the Saint Leo Lions on Sunday afternoon at Thomas B. Southard Stadium.

Saint Leo struck first with a four-run third inning. Thomas DeBrower and Dylan Mass opened the frame with singles, and after a bunt single by Ryan Crivell loaded the bases, Ryan Jackson drew a bases-loaded walk to force in the game's first run. Abrahan Rios was hit by a pitch to plate another, Alex Rivera followed with an RBI walk, and a sacrifice fly by Camdin Jansen made it 4–0.

Parkside answered in the fifth, capitalizing on Saint Leo miscues. Nolan Maciejewski reached on an error and later scored, while Dylan Sayles also came home on a throwing error. John Wubben added an RBI single with Ben Loyd scoring, to cut the deficit to 4–3.

The Lions regained momentum in the bottom of the fifth. Rivera doubled down the left-field line and eventually scored on an error, and DeBro lined an RBI single to push the lead to 6–3. Parkside reliever Mateo Fuentes followed with a clean, three-up, three-down sixth inning to keep the deficit at three.

The Rangers flipped the game in the seventh. After walks to Benjamin Loyd and Trace Kirchberg set the table, Karson Stiefer singled to load the bases. Josh Wicker grounded out to second to drive in a run, and Nathan Hanel delivered a two-run double to left to give Parkside a 7–6 lead.

Saint Leo answered in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Mass and a two-run single from Crivell to reclaim a 9–7 advantage, but Parkside delivered its decisive blow in the eighth. Maciejewski singled and later scored on a hit-by-pitch to Kirchberg. Wicker followed with a two-run single to right-center, and Hanel added a two-run single to make it 12–9. Saint Leo cut one run back in the ninth on another sacrifice fly by Mass, but Parkside closer Patrick Mulhern induced a popup and flyout to secure the save.

Wicker finished with three RBIs, while Hanel went 2-for-2 with four RBIs off the bench. Maciejewski collected three hits and scored twice. Mulhern earned the save, and Chase Powrozek picked up the win in relief.
