Parkside Drops Pair to Saint Leo in Saturday Doubleheader


SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Parkside Rangers dropped both games of a Friday doubleheader against the Saint Leo Lions, falling 14–4 in the opener before a late three-run sixth inning lifted Saint Leo to a 3–1 victory in game two at Thomas B. Southard Stadium.

Game One

Saint Leo jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first. After a hit batter and a single set the table, Abrahan Rios was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force in the game's first run. A pair of sacrifice flies by Noah Delgado and Roberto Odor plated two more, before Dylan Mass drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 4–0. The inning was capped by Thomas DeBro, who delivered a three-run single to left, pushing the advantage to 7–0.

The Lions added to the lead in the third inning when Dylan Mass tripled and later scored on an RBI double by Thomas DeBro. Ryan Crivell followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home DeBro and extend the margin to 9–0.

Saint Leo struck again in the fourth as Camdin Jansen doubled and Dylan Mass delivered his second triple of the game, driving in two runs to make it 11–0.

Parkside responded in the top of the sixth with its lone scoring frame. Karson Stiefer and Jackson Lindquist opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Dylan Sayles put the Rangers on the board with an RBI single to right. Ben Loyd followed with a fielder's choice RBI, and Trace Kirchberg cleared the bases with a two-run double to center, trimming the deficit to 11–4.

Saint Leo answered immediately in the bottom of the sixth. Dylan Mass singled in Camdin Jansen, then Thomas DeBro added an RBI single of his own. An unearned run followed on Ryan Jackson's RBI single, closing out the scoring at 14–4.

On the mound, Collin Lock earned the win for Saint Leo after allowing four runs over 5.2 innings. For Parkside, Nathan Ciemny took the loss, with Austin Grube, Donovan Dykas, and Jack Dykas providing relief out of the bullpen.

Parkside finished with four runs on four hits, highlighted by Kirchberg's two-run double, while Saint Leo totaled 14 runs on 14 hits, led by DeBro's five-RBI performance.

Game Two
Parkside struck first in the top of the second inning. Jackson Lindquist doubled down the left-field line and later scored when Noah Goddard ripped an RBI double to left, giving the Rangers a 1–0 lead.

Saint Leo answered in the bottom of the sixth with all three of its runs. Ryan Crivell singled and moved into scoring position before Roberto Odor drove in the tying run with an RBI single to left. Later in the inning, Camdin Jansen delivered the decisive blow with a two-run double down the left-field line, scoring Abrahan Rios and Roberto Odor to put the Lions ahead 3–1.

Parkside totaled seven hits on the day, with  Ben Loyd, Dylan Sayles, Carter Storti, Josh Wicker, Jackson Lindquist, Karson Stiefer, and Noah Goddard each recording a hit. Lindquist and Goddard accounted for the Rangers' two doubles, while Goddard drove in the lone run.

On the mound, Brennan Miller started for Parkside and tossed 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits while striking out three. Carson Klaus worked 1.2 innings in relief, and Isaiah Terrell was charged with the loss after the sixth inning. Leo Berger closed the game with two scoreless frames, striking out two.

Saint Leo's Matthew Delph went three innings in his start before Parker Hohnstock earned the win with six shutout innings in relief, limiting Parkside to just two hits over the final six frames.

The Rangers will close out the series against the Lions tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
