Rangers Host Lakers in GLIAC Tournament Quarterfinals

10/30/2026 9:00:00 AM

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Parkside men's soccer team will begin the 2026 postseason on Saturday, hosting Roosevelt University for the GLIAC Quarterfinals. The winner of Saturday's match will earn a spot in the semifinals and will take on Saginaw Valley State in University Center, Michigan on Friday, Nov. 6th.

Roosevelt took the season series against the Rangers this season, winning 1-0 in Arlington Heights back on Sept. 17th. The two sides then played to a 1-1 draw in Kenosha just a week ago on October 23rd. Fynn Mewes scored the lone game-winning goal back in September. Rafael Rios opened the scoring in Kenosha, but Parkside was able to salvage the draw with an 89th minute goal by Pablo Seco.

Parkside owns a 2-3-3 record with the Lakers all-time, but the Rangers have never lost in Kenosha to Roosevelt, with two straight draws. The lone victory for the Rangers in Kenosha came back on October 20th of 2024.

The Rangers have been strong at home this season, posting a 5-2-2 record. Parkside is unbeaten in their last five matches at Wood Road Field, with the last defeat coming last in September.

On the flip side, Roosevelt has struggled this season away from home, posting a 2-4-2 record. They are winless on the road in their last four matches, with their last road win coming back on Oct. 4th against Davenport.

On the stat sheet these two teams are very closely matched, with Parkside scoring 18 goals this season while Roosevelt has scored 16. Mewes is the leading goal scorer for the Lakers with eight goals this season, while Keven Sosa leads Parkside with five.

A win for the Rangers would send them back to the GLIAC Semifinals for the first time since 2023. Roosevelt is looking to punch themselves a ticket into the semifinals for the third straight season.
