Seco's Late Equalizer Salvages Draw Against Roosevelt

KENOSHA, Wis. – In a chaotic finish, the Parkside men's soccer team was able to salvage a 1-1 draw against Roosevelt on Friday afternoon. The Rangers are now 6-7-2 overall and 4-5-2 in conference play, while the Lakers are 6-3-6 overall and 4-3-4 in conference play.

The Lakers held shot advantages of 18-14 overall and 5-3 on goal, while Mateusz Pass made four saves for Parkside. The Rangers' scoring came on a late equalizer, with Pablo Seco credited with the game-tying goal. Parkside also got through a late stretch in which the Lakers had five attacks without conceding.

The Lakers held a 9-5 shot advantage in the first half and put three attempts on frame, with Pass making two saves for the Rangers. Rafael Rios scored in the 23rd minute off assists from Krystian Niziolek and Tim Koczulap, sending the Lakers into halftime ahead 1-0 despite Parkside earning three corner kicks and getting two shots each from Gio Magana and Angel Luevano.

In the second half, Parkside battle for one offensive opportunity to the next, but just could not find the equalizer. But then, with just 1:04 left to play in the match, the Rangers finally got on the board, with Pablo Seco tying the match. Inside the 18, Seco turned around, fired a shot, and sneaked it through off goalkeeper Strupler's gloves and into the back of the net, leveling the match at 1-1. The Rangers generated three second-half corner kicks to the Lakers' one, while Pass made two saves.

Seco scored a game-tying goal and put both of his shots on frame. Ahonen recorded the assist for his point in the match. Keven Sosa led Parkside with four shots and added one shot on goal. Pass played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with four saves while allowing one goal.

Up next, the Rangers conclude the regular season on Sunday afternoon, hosting St. Cloud State at Wood Road Field for Senior Day at noon. With a win, the Rangers could clinch a home quarterfinal match in the GLIAC Tournament.
