KENOSHA, Wis. – Wisconsin–Parkside put together its most complete performance of the season Thursday night, rolling past Lake Superior State 90-60 inside De Simone Arena to earn its first GLIAC victory of the year and snap a two-game losing streak.
The Rangers matched their season-high offensive output for the second straight game and did so with balance, efficiency and pace, placing five players in double figures for the first time since February 2024. Parkside improved to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in GLIAC play, while Lake Superior State dropped to 3-10 overall and 0-5 in conference action.
Parkside set the tone immediately, erupting for 31 first-quarter points on 58 percent shooting while forcing early turnovers and converting in transition. The Rangers assisted on eight of their 11 made field goals in the opening period and built a 31-15 advantage after one, holding the Lakers to just five made shots.
The momentum carried into the second quarter as Parkside continued to attack inside, scoring 21 points in the frame and taking a commanding 52-35 lead into halftime. Lillie Petersen controlled the glass early, while Katie Hamill facilitated the offense, helping Parkside finish the first half with 13 assists on 19 made baskets.
Any hope of a Lake Superior State response was quickly answered after the break. The Rangers opened the third quarter with a 7-0 run, pushing the margin past 20 and holding the Lakers to 27 percent shooting in the period. Parkside outscored Lake State 20-13 in the third, using second-chance opportunities and ball movement to stretch the lead to 72-48 heading into the final quarter.
The fourth quarter became a showcase of depth and defensive effort. Every active Ranger saw the floor, and Parkside closed the game on an 18-12 run while continuing to share the ball and defend without fouling. The Rangers finished the night with a season-high 24 assists on 33 made field goals and a dominant 24-4 advantage in assists.
Lexi Bugajski led the Rangers with a career-high 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting while adding nine rebounds. Petersen posted her second double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds, including six offensive boards. Cassidy Arni chipped in 14 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Hamill finished with 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, narrowly missing a triple-double for the second straight game.
Off the bench, Alli Hampel delivered a career-high 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting, adding three rebounds and providing a spark on both ends of the floor. Jaelyn Derlein contributed eight points, while Parkside's bench totaled 30 points overall.
As a team, Parkside shot 45 percent from the field, scored 50 points in the paint, and turned 19 Lake Superior State turnovers into 28 points. The Rangers also won the rebounding battle 43-34 and finished with 17 second-chance points.
Lake Superior State was led by Grace Bradford's 18 points, while Chloe Watson added 14 and Seyyane Matthew chipped in 10. The Lakers shot 35 percent from the field and were held to just four assists on the night.
Parkside will look to build on the momentum Saturday when it hosts Saginaw Valley State at 1 p.m. CT inside De Simone Arena.
