JAMESTOWN, N.D.- The sixth ranked Parkside Wrestling team defeated The University of Jamestown in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action, by a score of 44-0. The win was highlighted by a
Cody Welker fall at 2:32 and a fall by
Lowell Arnold at 2:45.
The dual started at 125 pounds, where
Dylan Duvernay won over Isaac Ronquillo in a 17-10 decision. Duvernay had three takedowns to help power his win. He earned 3 points for the overall score, making it 3-0 Rangers.
In the 133-pound bout,
Matthew Chi won by a 19-4 tech fall at 4:22 over Elijah Nose. Chi had three takedowns in the first period, followed by one escape point and three additional takedowns in the second period to secure victory. He earned five points for the Rangers, totaling 8-0.
At 141 pounds
Jordan Craft defeated Kellan Larson in a 13-2 major decision. Craft had two takedowns in the first period, then another two in the third to help propel his win. He earned four points, making the overall score 12-0 in favor of the Rangers.
Henry Niebauer secured a 13-6 decision win over William Cook at 149 pounds. In the first period, he earned three takedown points and two near fall. Cook had two takedown in the second period of his own, before Henry earned an escape point and two reversal points. Niebauer took control in the third period, receiving another escape point and takedown, furthering Parkside's lead to 15-0.
At 157 pounds
Cody Welker won by fall over Maddox Campbell at 2:32, picking up six points for Parkside, making it 21-0.
Liam Fox started the second half of the dual strong with a decision win over Rocker Aguilar at 165 pounds. Fox earned an escape point and a takedown in the first period. In the second, Liam took control earned an escape point, takedown and three near fall points to help secure a win, adding three more points to the Ranger overall score totaling 24-0.
In the 174-pound class,
Lowell Arnold defeated Colton Schaad by fall at 2:45, the second of the day for the Rangers. His win made it 30-0 Parkside.
Ben Kienbaum picked up a victory by an 11-4 decision over Hayden Ramaeker at 184 pounds. In the first period, he had two takedowns and earned four near fall points. Additionally, had received an escape point in the third period. He added three points to the overall score, 33-0 Rangers.
Thomas Reilly picked up the second tech fall of the day for the Rangers at 197 pounds at 20-5 (2:26). In the first period, he had six takedowns and earned two near fall points. He defeated Dane Hartmann making the score 38-0 Rangers.
At 285 pounds,
Cooper Caraway claimed victory via forfeit for the Rangers, receiving six points, making the final score 44-0.
With the win, No. 6 Parkside moves to 10–2 overall and 5–1 in NSIC action, while improving to 1–0 all-time against the Jimmies. The Rangers return to action on Saturday, January 31, hosting the University of Mary with the dual set for a 7:00 p.m. start.
