No. 6 Parkside Downs Northern State, 22–12

ABERDEEN, S.D.-  The sixth ranked Parkside Wrestling team defeated Northern State in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action, by a score of 22-12. 

The dual started at 125 pounds, where Dylan Duvernay fell to Sloan Johannsen in a 6-2 decision. Johannsen earned a first period takedown, followed by an escape point from Duvernay. In the second period, Dylan earned another escape point. During the third, Sloan earned a penalty point, escape point, and riding time point. Making it 3-0 Wolves. 

In the 133-pound bout, Elon Rodriguez won in a 8-2 decision over Teagan Block. In the second period, Rodriguez earned an escape point and three takedown points, Block earned one escape point. In the third, Block received another escape point, but Elon followed up with his second takedown of the bout and received a penalty point. He earned 3 points for the Rangers, totaling 3-3.

At 141 pounds Troy Dolphin lost to Krayle Stormer in a 5-2 decision. Stormer earned a first period takedown, while Dolphin followed up with a two-point reversal. In period three Krayle had a two-point reversal to secure his own victory. Making the score 6-3 in favor of the Wolves.

No. 2 Jalen Spuhler secured a 8-4 decision win over No.14 Rudy Lopez at 149 pounds. In the first period he had two takedowns, while Lopez earned two escape points. During the second period, Jalen earned an escape point and later secured riding time point and the victory, tying the dual at 6-6.

At 157 pounds No. 4 Easton Worachek picked up a 11-1 major decision victory over Griffin Lundeen. In the first period, Worachek had both a takedown and earned two near fall points. In the second, he also earned two riding time points. Easton had another takedown in the third and earned a riding time point, while Lundeen earned one escape point. The win made it 10-6 Parkside. 

No.7 Brody Hemauer started the second half of the dual strong with a win at 165 pounds. He won by a 19-3 technical fall at 4:24 over Izaak Hunsley. Hemauer earned two takedowns and three near fall points in the first period, while Hunsley earned one escape point. During the second, Brody earned four near fall points and two more takedowns while Hunsley received two escape points. Hemauer's victory added five more points to the Ranger overall score, totaling 15-6.

In the 174-pound class, No.3 Dajun Johnson defeated Mason Fey in a 12-3 major decision. Johnson received two reversal points and had two takedowns in the second period, while Fey earned one escape point. Mason earned another escape point in the third, but Dajun had his third takedown of the bout and earned a riding time point to secure the win. With the win the score improved to 19-6 in favor of the Rangers. 

Ranked No. 13, Brady Schuh lost to No.11 Brady Westall at 184lbs in a tight decision.  

No.13 Jordan Blanchard lost to Ryan Hirschkorn in a 8-1 decision at 197 pounds.

At 285 pounds, Cooper Caraway claimed victory over Ayden Viox by a 5-0 decision. Caraway earned an escape point in the second period. In the third, he had a takedown and earned a riding time point. His victory secured the 22-12 win for Parkside. 

With the victory, No. 6 Parkside improves to 9–2 overall and 4–1 in NSIC play, while extending their all-time record against the Wolves to 5–1. The Rangers return to action tomorrow, facing the Jamestown Jimmies at 2:00 p.m.
